Tourist Place: (Distance from Somwarpet)

1. Mallalli Falls (23 KM)

Mallalli is the biggest water fall in Coorg and is situated in the foot hills of Pushpagiri hill. Mallalli falls has a height of about 62 mts (205ft) and you can experience the breath taking view of the falls from the view point. Kumaradhara river is the main source for the Waterfalls.

Trekking Route: To access the water fall you need to walk down 300 sets.

Caution: Be careful while walking down as the steps are slippery.

Location: Kumaralli Village, 11KM from Shanthalli Village.

2. Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary (24 km)

Pushpagiri is one of the 21 wild life sanctuaries of India. The Pusphagiri hills lies at an altitude of 5,626ft [1,712mts] and is the 2nd highest peak in Coorg.

Trekking Route: Trekking can be done from MALLIKARJUNA TEMPLE, Pushpagiri which is an 18KM (3-4 Hr) trek.

Location: Kumaralli Village, 15KM from Shanthalli Village.

3. Mandalpatti (40 KM)

A favorite destination for travelers, Mandalpatti has the power to charm any tourist that visits the place and will beckon him or her to come back here again and again. Make sure you pack something to eat and of course, water bottles, you will not find any shop once you start taking the trail uphill. You will fall in love with the greenery that will envelop you from all sides during the trek.

Mandalpatti can be approached through Madhapur, Garvale and Suralbi from Somwarpet or through Madikeri town.

Trekking Route: Last 4 Km to reach the view point is by trekking or you can hire a Jeep.

Location: Mandalpatti is located in Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary near Mukkodlu.

4. Honnammana Kere (6 KM)

Honnamma Lake (Honnamana Kere) is the biggest lake in Coorg. Surrounded with Cliffs like Gavi Betta and Pandavra Betta, the place is perfect for still water Kayaking, Cycling and Trekking.

Trekking Route: You can trek the Gavi betta starting from Honnamma Temple. Pass through the cave, which has natural water.

5. Dolmen Circle (6 KM)

Dolmen Circles of Neolithic period or New Stone Age dating back to 4000 to 3000 BC (which is close to Era of Egyptian pyramids). There are 64 tombs here and is one of the three such Dolmens in India. It is part of Archeological department of India.

Location: Sulimalthe Village near Honnama Lake.

6. Kote betta (34 km)

Kotebetta ^[2] is the third highest peak in Coorg. Kotebetta means "Fort Hill" because of its fort-like appearance. There is temple of lord Shiva at the bottom of the rock. The view from Kotebetta is breathtaking. It can be approached through Madapur.

Trekking Route: Start from Aiyappa temple which is 4 KM from Madapur. Trek distance is 7KM (2 hr).

Location: Garvale Village, 14KM from Madapur.

7. Kote betta falls (32 km)

Kote betta falls is one of the unexplored Waterfalls in Somwarpet. It is located just before the Kote betta peak. The water here is crystal clear and the specialty of the falls is there are a lot of fishes which is a pleasure to play with.

Location: Garvale Village, 12KM from Madapur.

8. Meen Kolli Madhapur(22 km)

Kolli means Small stream and Meen Kolli means Stream of Fishes. As the name suggests Meen Kolli has very high density of fishes. Thanks to the temple through which the Stream flows, fishing here has been voluntarily stopped. Well, playing with the fishes is allowed.

Location: 2KM from Madhapur towards Kote betta.

9. Abbimatta Falls (5 km)

Abbimatta waterfalls nestled on the high slops of the Bachalli Village surrounded by thick forest and paddy fields, coffee estates, hills, valleys; it’s an another world there like a hidden paradise.

Location: Thalthar Shettali Village, 3KM from Yadur Village.

10. Ancient Digambar Jain Temples

Kalakandur (3 km)

Kalkandur is a small hamlet situated in the Somwarpet, Coorg. The temple of Bhagawan Parshwanath here is said to have been constructed in the year A.D. 1380.

Location: Kalkandur Village, 3KM from Somwarpet.

Mullur (20Km)

One of the most ancient Jain centers of Kodagu is Mulluru (Nidtha). This place seems to have been the capital of the Kongalvas, who were the subordinates of the Cholas. There are three Basadis of Parswanatha, Shanthinatha and Chandranatha.

Location: Mulluru Village, 7KM from Shanivarsante.

11. Kalakandur Beauty Spot (4 km)

Kalkandur beauty spot is close to the Jain Basadi of Kalakandur. Perfect for a short trek, this place has a view of 270°.

Location: Kalkandur Village, 4KM from Somwarpet.

12. Harangi backwaters (15 km)

Harangi backwaters of Kajoor village is surrounded by Coffee plantations and one of most peaceful places in Somwarpet. This place is easily accessible through road and is scenic all through the year.

Location: Kajoor/Igoor Village

13. Makkala Gudi betta (10 km)

Makkala Gudi betta is a beauty spot from where you can witness 14-15 green mountains. Haragi Dam Backwaters can also be seen from here. Legend says that Cattle grazing kids built a small place of worship using stones, hence the name Makkala Gudi.

Located: Takeri/Kirgandoor Village.

14. Belur Golf Course (6 km)

Belur Golf Course in part of Colonial Belur Golf Club. It is lush green all through the year and is perfect for families to spend some quality time in the evening. It is also a popular movie shooting spot.

Location: Belur Village on the way to Kushalnagar.

15. Bisle Ghat Beauty Spot (35 km)

Bisle ghat is a great place to get away from your busy life and enjoy the tranquility of nature. The Ghat offers a spectacular view of hills and waterfalls from vista point. You would not regret travelling that far. The view is breathtaking and the place should be preferably visited in or after monsoon.

Trekking Route: Start from Kundalli which is on way to Mallali Falls from Somwarpet. Trek distance is 20KM (4 Hr).

Location: The beauty spot is located on the way to Subramanya Temple from Somwarpet.

16. Simbigallu Gavi betta – Herur (25 km)

Gavi betta means the Cave Hill. Legend says that Rudramuneshwara was meditating at this place. And every new moon and full moon day he used to bathe in the pond and the water turned red. Locals pray for rains every year with folklore.

Location: Near Cowcoody.

17. Male Malleshwara betta (15 km)

Male Malleshwara betta in Malambi Hills is among the tallest peaks in Coorg at a height of 5,494 feet above sea level. The temple has been celebrating Mahashivaratri since 1998 with about 10,000-15,000 devotees participating in offering pooja to Lord Shiva. Devotees tirelessly ascend the hills for a darshan of the lord.

Trekking Route: Start from Shantveri near Gowdalli which is on way to Shanivarsante from Somwarpet. Trek distance is 4KM (1 Hr).

Location: Malambi Hills is situated at a distance of 12 km from Shanivarasanthe and 15 km from Somwarpet.
